Piero Bussi cultivates twelve hectares on the hills of Calosso, where the Langhe gives way to Monferrato. His is a four-generation story: the family began making Barbera after the First World War, abandoning the custom of selling grapes to merchants to keep the wine under their own name. From that gesture stems today's winery, which oversees three denominations of Asti Piedmont. Barbera d'Asti remains the cornerstone, with its minimum four months of rest before commercialization, flanked by Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato and the wines of Terre Alfieri. This triangulation speaks of a border position: Calosso sits on the transition line between two distinct areas, and the wines bear its mark, suspended between two hillside vocations. Those who visit the cellar can personally experience this transition, touring the winery and tasting the labels that translate its terroir: a direct way to read, glass after glass, the geography of a Piedmontese ridge.
