Cantina Miglianico Soc. Coop. Agr.
Miglianico · Province of Chieti · Abruzzo
In Miglianico, in the province of Chieti, the eponymous cooperative winery manages six denominations within the Abruzzese wine landscape, some tiny and others regional in scale. From the most restricted area, Villamagna — just three municipalities — it produces a Montepulciano for structured reds, aged ten months in wood. The Controguerra area, which comprises five municipalities, instead opens up to red and rosé grapes, broadening the palette towards fresher tones. On the opposite side are the broad-ranging denominations, extending up to one hundred and eighty-nine Abruzzese municipalities: here, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, and the regional Abruzzo DOC find their place, representing the most widespread production. The portfolio thus moves between two poles, the niche and the extended territory, held together by rigorous minimum alcohol levels that define the character of each wine. Territorial authenticity remains the thread that connects such diverse denominations.
