At Rocca delle Macìe in Castellina in Chianti, Italo Zingarelli's vision took root five decades ago when he acquired Le Macìe estate, drawn to the intersection of rolling hills and Mediterranean scrub rising above the valley. Today the winery crafts Morellino di Scansano DOCG across the seven-municipality zone, where Sangiovese and select black varietals mature into characterful reds exceeding 12.5% alcohol. Visitors discover both vineyard and history—the restored ruins of an ancient hamlet overlook modern viticulture rooted in ethical land stewardship and family continuity.
