Ranica climbs the right-bank slopes of the Serio River, where the Alpine foothills of the Seriana Valley meet the Lombard plain. This transition zone benefits from a particular alpine-influenced climate that nurtures viticulture. Within this territory, 17 protected denominations overlap, yielding distinctive regional wines. Foremost among these is the Valcalepio DOC, a heritage blend cultivated across a selective zone of 42 municipalities. The gravelly soils also nourish the Terre del Colleoni DOC, spanning its 71-municipality zone. Here, the alpine breeze shapes both robust reds and crisp hillside whites.
