Lula

Though sharing its name with the famous statesman of Brazil, the Sardinian commune of Lula is rooted in its own ancient mountain foodways. Here in the province of Nuoro, 15 protected denominations thrive on the rugged pastures and steep slopes. Leading these is the Provincia di Nuoro IGT, a wine denomination limited to just 100 municipalities, capturing the wild herbaceous character of the local terroir. The surrounding limestone cliffs also shape the robust sheep's milk cheese, Fiore Sardo DOP. These windswept heights yield authentic tastes entirely distinct from their South American namesake.
