Basilisco SRL
Barile · Province of Potenza · Basilicata
Based in Barile, in the Potenza area, Basilisco interprets the Castel del Monte DOCG family in three distinct expressions. Two are red and structured, the Nero di Troia Riserva and the Rosso Riserva, both characterized by at least twenty-four months of aging and an alcohol content around thirteen percent; the third is the leaner, fresher version, the Bombino Nero, vinified as a rosé. The winery was founded in the early 1990s with an immediate focus on vineyard and cellar work, quickly becoming a benchmark for Southern Italian viticulture. The turning point came in 2011, when Feudi di San Gregorio, already active in Vulture for over a decade, acquired Basilisco to strengthen its regional vision. This brought into the project the characteristic cellars carved into the tuff and the vineyards located in the most suitable areas of the region, elements that continue to define the identity and style of a production firmly linked to the southern territory and its volcanic rocks.
