Betemps Matthieu

In Saint-Christophe, one of the 38 municipalities that define the Valle d'Aosta wine region, Betemps Matthieu works within the Valle d'Aosta DOC denomination. He is a mountain winemaker in the most literal sense: the vineyards are shaped by altitude and a continental climate that narrows the margins, and from here emerge white, red, and rosé wines that reflect the conditions of high-altitude viticulture. Cold dictates the rules. Each wine must reach the required minimum alcohol content of 9.5%, a threshold that speaks to the delicate balance between the slow maturation of the grapes and the pursuit of full fruit. In this alpine scenario, the denomination acts as a guarantee: it certifies that the wines truly belong to that small patch of terraced slopes, where every degree of sugar gained is the result of carefully chosen exposure. Betemps thus interprets a territory that yields little and demands great precision.
