Bianchi Giampiero

Bianchi Giampiero cultivates Patata del Fucino IGP in Luco dei Marsi, within the protected area of nine municipalities in the province of L'Aquila. The context is the Fucino plateau, formed by the drainage of an ancient lake: a reclamation that left a legacy of volcanic soils and mineral-rich drainage, conditions that the company takes as the foundation of its production. The single denomination overseen here finds the characteristics that distinguish it from more common European varieties: firm and compact flesh, intact skin, and morphological regularity of the tuber. Altitude and terroir converge in a harvest of consistent quality, stable season after season, where the product's character depends more on the soil of origin than on the individual vintage. It is a sober interpretation of the IGP, anchored to agronomic data: the Fucino potato as a direct outcome of a reclaimed lake basin, where the mineral soil and high-altitude climate establish the tuber's physiognomy and guarantee its recognizability over time.
