At six hundred meters above sea level, on the hills of Lecco that separate Lake Como from the Milanese orbit, Campione dei colli Briantei occupies a unique position. Barbara and Beppe Fumagalli manage this high-altitude property with organic viticulture principles, where beehives now serve as an indicator of an ecosystem in balance between local flora and fauna: the vineyard coexists with its surroundings instead of isolating itself. A single denomination encompasses their production, the `Terre Lariane IGT`, expressed primarily in white wines — `Verdese`, `Chardonnay`, `Pinot bianco` — which translate the altitude and soil integrity into every vintage. Alongside the whites, the red and rosé selections reveal the complexity of fruit ripened at high altitude, where temperature excursions sharpen the aromatic profile. Here, the Lombard geography, suspended between water and city, enters directly into the glass: a wine that carries the measure of its altitude and the respectful way the land is cultivated.
