Campo alla Sughera

In Castagneto Carducci, where marly and sandy soils rich in fossils meet the influence of marine currents, Campo alla Sughera presides over the winemaking heart of Bolgheri. The estate operates on three registers: the Bolgheri DOC, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Vermentino; the more stringent Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, which mandates twenty-four months of aging for its Cabernet-based reds; and the Toscano IGT, a freer space within the range. The surrounding hills shield against cold inland currents, while the coastal light distributes uniformly over the vineyard, shaping wines that bear the imprint of this terroir. It is a mosaic of different rules—from the strict discipline of the Sassicaia subzone to the broader latitude of the IGT—held together by the same landscape.
