Cantine DE LUCA Vincenzo

Since 1994, Cantine DE LUCA Vincenzo has interpreted Ionian Calabria through two contiguous denominations, Cirò and Melissa DOC, founded on the indigenous grape varieties Gaglioppo for reds and Greco Bianco for whites. This pair of appellations sketches a single oenological landscape overlooking the Ionian Sea, where geographical proximity doesn't erase differences but rather brings them into dialogue, vintage after vintage. The vineyards extend over clay-limestone soils exposed to the sea breeze, a microclimate that builds structure and mineral tension, giving the wines recognizable backbone and savoriness. The Melissa winery thus works on a dual register, bringing together the robustness of Gaglioppo and the freshness of Greco Bianco within the two DOCs of the Crotone area. It's a project that reads the Ionian coast as a territory to be precisely translated into the bottle, making local peculiarities its signature rather than a generic appeal, and embracing the production regulations as a shared framework for the two wines.
