Cantine Virgili Luigi S.r.l.

In Mantova, Cantine Virgili Luigi manages four denominations distributed across different terroirs. In the clayey valley floors, at about fifty meters above sea level, Lambrusco yields its reds; on higher sites, around 150 meters of morainic soil, Garganega and Trebbiano giallo compose white blends. Across Lambrusco Mantovano DOC, Garda Colli Mantovani DOC, Quistello IGT, and Provincia di Mantova IGT, the winery produces reds, whites, and rosés. The thread that holds this mosaic together is fidelity to the historical grape varieties of the area, interpreted according to altitude and soil rather than an imposed stylistic line. The difference in elevation — a few meters on paper, a world in the glass — explains how the same Mantuan area can yield both the vibrant kick of Lambrusco and the composure of hillside whites. The winery is open for direct visits: a stop allows one to follow, denomination by denomination, the link between the map of the lands and the wines that emerge from them.
