Scopetone - La Melina

Montalcino · Province of Siena · Toscana

🏡 Tastings & visitsBrunello di Montalcino DOCG

La Melina takes its name from the apple trees that once flourished on the Montalcino hillside now planted with Sangiovese vines. Founded in 2002 by Loredana Tanganelli and Antonio Brandi on the southwestern slopes at 400 metres altitude, the estate expanded when it assumed Scopetone's operations in 2009—a lineage tracing back to 1979. Five hectares of vineyards produce annually 7,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, alongside Rosso selections and oils from heritage olive varieties. Oenologist Maurizio Castelli guides their winemaking philosophy. Visitors discover how this Tuscan producer honours both orchard heritage and the discipline of Brunello's 48-month aging requirement.
