In the quiet valleys of Coli, a sparse community of fewer than nine hundred residents in the province of Piacenza preserves a distinct viticultural heritage. Here, the unique microclimates of the Apennine foothills nurture the white Ortrugo grape, the backbone of the Ortrugo dei Colli Piacentini DOC, a sparkling wine restricted to a narrow zone of just 22 municipalities. This terrain also shapes the rare Terre di Veleja IGT wines. Across the rugged landscape, these natural conditions define 16 protected denominations, including the prized, air-cured Coppa Piacentina DOP, which gains its sweet, delicate aroma from the local curing microclimates.
