Aidomaggiore

In the basaltic highlands of Sardinia's Oristano province, the tiny outpost of Aidomaggiore, home to fewer than four hundred residents, nurtures a remarkably diverse viticultural output. Within this dry territory, local growers steward 19 protected denominations. Leading the ranks of local specialties is Tharros IGT, a coastal-influenced wine restricted to a selective zone of 78 municipalities, where maritime breezes develop highly concentrated grapes. These distinctive soils also yield the grapes behind Isola dei Nuraghi IGT and the wild botanicals for Mirto di Sardegna IG, cementing this small enclave's status in Italy's registry of origin.
