Busachi

In the volcanic hills of Sardinia’s inland Oristano province, Busachi—a community of just under eleven hundred residents—channels its rugged terrain into a distinctive viticultural output. This single municipality claims 19 protected denominations. Chief among these is the highly localized Tharros IGT, a wine designation restricted to a zone of 78 municipalities that captures the brackish sea breezes traveling up the Tirso valley. The local vines, rooted in tuffaceous clay soils, also yield bottles of Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, cementing Busachi's reputation as an unexpected hub of Sardinian viticulture.
