Rising from the extinct volcanic slopes of the Montiferru massif, Cuglieri channels its high-altitude microclimate and basalt-rich soils into celebrated Sardinian delicacies. This unique terrain shapes the saline, mineral-driven Tharros IGT white wines, which are cultivated across a zone of 78 municipalities. The same volcanic earth coaxes the spiked, intensely aromatic Carciofo Spinoso di Sardegna DOP artichoke to perfection. Currently, 1 certified local producer directly spearheads these traditional operations, safeguarding Cuglieri’s share in the 16 protected denominations that overlap across this fertile, wind-swept territory where the mountains meet the sea.
