Pau

On the western slopes of the volcanic Monte Arci massif, within Sardinia's Alta Marmilla region, the small municipality of Pau shapes its agricultural identity through fertile, obsidian-rich soils. This distinct volcanic terroir fuels the cultivation of grapes destined for some of the area's 20 protected denominations. Among these, the local Arborea DOC, shared with a zone of 50 municipalities, and the coastal-influenced Tharros IGT, spanning 78 municipalities, thrive in the unique microclimate. These wines capture the mineral-driven character of Pau’s ancient, dark volcanic slopes, delivering a taste deeply rooted in this specific Sardinian landscape.
