Perched 710 meters high in the rugged Barbagia di Seùlo along State Road 198, the mountain enclave of Ussassai channels its high-altitude wilderness into distinct, localized flavors. This remote geography shapes the iconic Culurgionis d'Ogliastra IGP, a handmade pasta born from a micro-region of just 26 municipalities where mountain potatoes and mint create a unique filling. The steep, sun-baked slopes also nourish the vines behind Ogliastra IGT, a concentrated wine produced within a compact zone of 25 municipalities. Here, isolation preserves ancient agricultural crafts, yielding 17 protected denominations that define this high Sardinian sanctuary.
