Setzu

Perched beneath the basaltic cliffs of the Giara plateau—of which this tiny Marmilla municipality claims 244 hectares—Setzu’s ancient courtyard-style peasant homes reflect a long agricultural history. In this volcanic landscape, grapevines yield grapes for 18 protected denominations. Most representative of this local terroir is the sweet Girò di Cagliari DOC, a wine cultivated across a zone of 182 municipalities, where intensive sun concentrates the native grapes' sugars. Alongside these vines, the rugged basalt terrain shapes unique microclimates, ensuring these regional specialties thrive in the shadow of the wild highland plateau.
