Armungia

Perched on a 366-meter-high hill within Sardinia's rugged Gerrei subregion, the remote municipality of Armungia channels its high-altitude exposure and stony soils into 18 distinct protected denominations. This isolated terroir is ideally suited to the historic Girò di Cagliari DOC, a rare red wine grape shared across a production zone of 182 municipalities. The steep elevations and dry Mediterranean winds of this inland outpost coax concentrated characters from the vines, also nourishing the broader Cagliari DOC to cement Armungia’s role as a vital custodian of ancient Sardinian viticultural heritage.
