In the rugged hinterland of Cagliari's metropolitan province, the tiny hilltop outpost of Goni—home to just over four hundred residents—provides a unique microclimate for Sardinian viticulture. Within this territory, 18 protected denominations overlap, shaped by arid winds and limestone soils. The local terroir excels in producing Girò di Cagliari DOC, a rare red wine shared across a zone of 182 municipalities, alongside the aromatic Nasco di Cagliari DOC. These grape varieties thrive in Goni's stony exposures, where intense sun and cooling breezes concentrate sugars, yielding deeply expressive Sardinian wines.
