Directly bordering the southern capital of Cagliari, the low-lying flatlands of Selargius yield agricultural treasures shaped by this coastal fringe. Here, the sharp-spined Carciofo Spinoso di Sardegna DOP thrives in clay-silt soils, nourished by salty Mediterranean breezes. The municipality's viticultural identity is anchored by historic local varietals, most notably the sweet Girò di Cagliari DOC, which is cultivated across a restricted territory of 182 municipalities. In total, Selargius boasts 19 protected denominations, representing a unique culinary zone where urban conurbation meets deep-rooted Sardinian farming heritages.
