Portoscuso

Rising from the windswept southwestern coast of Sardinia, within the rugged Sulcis-Iglesiente subregion, Portoscuso’s sandy maritime terrain defines its agricultural character. This maritime enclave hosts 19 protected food and wine denominations, crowned by the highly local Carignano del Sulcis DOC. This bold, salt-kissed red wine is restricted to a tight zone of just 17 municipalities, where vines plunge deep into sandy coastal soils. These extreme conditions produce intensely concentrated grapes, defining the local viticulture alongside broader regional specialties like Cannonau di Sardegna DOC and the ancestral Fiore Sardo DOP cheese.
