Abate Nero

In Trento, Abate Nero oversees five designated areas of Trentino, from the esteemed Teroldego Rotaliano DOC to the extensive Trentino DOC, which covers 69 municipalities. The range encompasses all types: reds like Merlot and Schiava from Casteller, whites of Chardonnay and Pinot from Vallagarina. However, the recognizable heart remains the Trento DOC sparkling wine, bound by a minimum aging of fifteen months, which, alongside the seven overall denominations—including Vallagarina IGT and Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT—showcases a clear sparkling wine vocation. Everything originates on calcareous soils and terroirs modulated by altitude, between valley floor and slopes. Red, rosé, white, and sparkling wines thus form a broad yet coherent range, anchored to the Trentino geography. The winery is open for visits and tastings: stopping for a taste of the Trento DOC, alongside the still wines of the valley, is the most direct way to grasp how the same hand interprets different altitudes and denominations.
