In Diano d'Alba, in the Cuneo Langhe, Abrigo Giovanni has cultivated its vines for three generations, following the natural rhythm of the Piedmontese terroirs between Dolcetto and Nebbiolo. The estate oversees four DOCG denominations that span the entire area: from Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba, more immediate and tied to the home soil, to the great Nebbiolo reds—Barolo and Barbaresco—with Dogliani in between. Barolo, in particular, requires 38 months of aging before release, a testament to a philosophy that embraces patience as a method. The family organization is part of the story: each member tends a specific vineyard, ensuring direct and un-delegated knowledge of each plot. In the cellar, the touch is calibrated, with minimal intervention and precise enological care designed to allow each wine's nature to express itself without force. Visits are possible and well worth the stop: they allow one to explore the four denominations in sequence and grasp, glass after glass, how the face of the Diano territory changes.
