🏡 Tastings & visitsSforzato di Valtellina DOCGValtellina Superiore DOCG

On the steep slopes of Valtellina, where viticulture is practiced with the strength of dry stone walls, Alberto Marsetti works a single grape variety in two ways. Nebbiolo becomes Valtellina Superiore, which awaits twenty-four months to unravel its complexity, and Sforzato di Valtellina, where the same fruit dries and rests for at least twenty months until a denser concentration is achieved. These two DOCG denominations tell the story of the same grape from different angles. Three decades of harvests have given the winery a recognizable balance between modern tools and the harshness of the alpine territory, where every gesture requires effort and the slope dictates the pace. The location in Sondrio adds a setting that is worth the journey: the ancient village of Scarpatetti with its medieval architecture and the surrounding vineyards compose a landscape where the story of wine and the mountains overlap. Those who wish to understand these reds can book a visit to the cellar and taste them where they are born, among the stones of Scarpatetti and the vertical vineyards.
