ALESSANDRINI ANDREA

🏡 Tastings & visitsMontefalco Sagrantino DOCG

Andrea Alessandrini dedicates all his work to a single, tenacious grape, Sagrantino, cultivated in the five municipalities of Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. This indigenous grape of rare concentration is offered in two complementary forms: the red, a wine of great structure with a minimum aging of 37 months (among the longest in Italy), and the passito, which pushes the same material towards sweetness through appassimento. The strictness of the regulations, with thresholds that bring the wine above 13% alcohol, indicates how much this central Umbrian denomination demands from the producer. Here, time is not an accessory but an ingredient: terroir and aging work together, and the character of Sagrantino only emerges after years. The winery welcomes visitors year-round, and a tasting is the most direct way to understand such a demanding grape—comparing the dry and sweet versions side-by-side, and personally appreciating why Montefalco remains among central Italy's most rigorous red wine zones.
