Animas

Animas bears a recent date, 2018, but an older root: in the 1970s, Giuseppino Mazzone, returning to Gallura after seeking his fortune elsewhere, planted the first vineyard here, on the same lands he had roamed as a shepherd boy. From that family memory, the company restarts, based in Berchiddeddu, behind Olbia. The core of their work is Vermentino di Gallura, Sardegna's only DOCG, expressed in all the forms the grape variety allows: still, spumante, frizzante. Around this, some labels from international grapes complete the range without shifting its focus. The thread that ties the versions together is the desire to transform the Mazzone family's history into tangible quality, measured bottle by bottle. The result is a less monolithic portrait of Vermentino gallurese, capable of transitioning from the saline tension of the still wine to the more immediate effervescence, remaining faithful to the granite and winds that mark this northeastern corner of the island.
