Antica tenuta i Pola has its roots in Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese, a location that places it at a distance from the vineyard but in a convenient position to source Dolcetto from the Ovada area, the district of twenty-two municipalities from which the grapes originate. The company's sole denomination is Dolcetto di Ovada Superiore DOCG, a demanding regulation that requires at least 12.5% alcohol and twelve months of aging before commercialization. These are constraints that shape the grape variety more than merely describing it: they channel the robust tannins and dark fruit typical of Dolcetto into structured wines, capable of aging well rather than fading quickly. The result is a red far from the everyday, light version often associated with Dolcetto, oriented instead towards longevity and a clearer definition. In this interpretation, the estate operates on the margins of Lombardy's oenological map, yet it draws upon strict regulations where the continental influence and the air descending from the Alps impart a distinctly mineral tone to the wine.
