Antonino Paterno'

Limone di Siracusa IGP

Along the Syracuse coastal strip, Antonino Paterno' cultivates Femminello lemons, marking the year with three harvest periods. The Primofiore opens in spring with its vibrant green vigor, the Bianchetto continues into the summer heat, and the Verdello closes the cycle in autumn: the same tree producing at different rhythms throughout the months, offering fruits with a changing yet always recognizable profile. A single IGP defines this work — the Limone di Siracusa — confined to a zone of ten municipalities that sets its boundaries. From here, each fruit carries the acidic and juicy character that elevates the denomination beyond the trade of ordinary citrus, where seasonality is often forced. Paterno', instead, makes the natural succession of harvests its method: respecting the timing of the Femminello means delivering, in each window of the year, a lemon that expresses that specific phase and no other. It is on this fidelity to the tree's calendar, rather than on the breadth of the catalog, that the value of the protected denomination is measured.
