Malvasia delle Lipari DOCSalina IGT

On the volcanic slopes of Malfa, in Salina, Azienda Agricola Barbanacoli frames its production within two denominations that interpret the same soil with different logics. Malvasia delle Lipari DOC defines the sweet wine of the Aeolian archipelago, made from Malvasia di Lipari and Corinto nero and offered in white, passito, and liquoroso versions: a profile that concentrates the island sun into sweetness. Alongside, Salina IGT opens a broader field, allowing regional Sicilian grape varieties in white, red, and rosé, and leaving room for everyday, dry interpretations. The distance between the two denominations—one specialized and identity-driven, the other versatile—measures the company's entire range, which derives both meditative expressions and more approachable wines from the same volcanic terroir. In both, the mineral imprint of basalt and salinity remains, a common signature of an island where vines grow against the wind and overlooking the sea.
