Costa Viola IGTLocride IGTPalizzi IGT+1

Azienda Agricola Ceramida di Passalacqua Rodolfo is located in Bagnara Calabra, on the extreme Tyrrhenian edge of the province of Reggio Calabria, amidst terraced vineyards and the sea. The producer operates under four IGT designations—Pellaro, Costa Viola, Palizzi, and Locride—which cover as many stretches of this coast and its hinterland, each with its own exposure and altitude. The common thread is the enhancement of native Calabrian grape varieties, with Nerello playing the starring role. From reds to rosés and whites featuring Montonico, the production interprets volcanic soils and microclimates that change from slope to slope. The altitude of the terraces and the marine influence work together, tempering maturation and imbuing each vintage with a different tension. Four denominations for a single area mean four ways of interpreting the same Calabrian landscape, where the vine clings to steep slopes conquered meter by meter from the sea and the mountain that descends almost to touch it.
