On the citrus coast of the Siracusa area, Giovanni Giangreco cultivates Femminello, the cultivar that gives body to Limone di Siracusa IGP. Here, the year does not have just one harvest but three: Primofiore, Bianchetto, and Verdello follow one another throughout the seasons, and each brings a different profile—the vibrant acidity of spring fruits, the sweeter balance of autumn, the aromatic concentration of late yields. The company's sole denomination protects both the fruit and its terroir, a small area of ten municipalities overlooking the sea where the mild coastal microclimate governs flowering and ripening. Continuous production throughout the calendar is Giangreco's hallmark: not a seasonal lemon, but a succession of harvests that covers most of the year, each destined for uses best suited by its acidity and sugar content. It is in this repeated rhythm, dictated by the citrus cycle, that one can read the close link between the plant and the coastal environment from which it draws its character.
