BALDARELLI FRANCESCO
Cartoceto · Province of Pesaro e Urbino · Marche
From Cartoceto, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, Francesco Baldarelli brings together four DOCG denominations distributed among the most prestigious territories of the Marche region. The backbone is Verdicchio, interpreted in two Riserve — that of Matelica and that of Castelli di Jesi — whites aged at least eighteen months that focus on longevity rather than immediacy. Alongside the whites run two very different expressions of red: the Cònero, where Montepulciano and Sangiovese require two years of aging to settle, and the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, a rare sparkling interpretation from black grapes. It is a range that covers eight municipalities in the Marche and that, instead of dispersing, measures the diversity of regional terroirs through disciplined wines destined to last. Baldarelli does not pursue a single style: he prefers that each denomination remains faithful to its own character, from the high-altitude Verdicchio to the dark sparkling wine of Serrapetrona, composing a small atlas of the Marche in four stages.
