BATTAGLINO ANGELO di Battaglino Margherita

Castagnito · Province of Cuneo · Piemonte

🏡 Tastings & visitsBarbaresco DOCGBarolo DOCGDogliani DOCG+1

Four generations have shaped the identity of Battaglino Angelo on the sandy soils of the Roero, in Castagnito. The 13 hectares of vineyards support four DOCG denominations that rarely coexist under the same roof: the Dolcetto—specifically Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba and Dogliani—known for their more immediate drinkability, and the two benchmark Nebbiolo wines, Barolo and Barbaresco, which demand long aging and steady nerves. The winery, open to the public, preserves methods established since 1940, when Angelo Battaglino began cultivating these very lands. It's not a museum; it's a living space where family viticulture continues to evolve, balancing the wisdom of the past with the need for progress. The contrast between the ready-to-drink Dolcetto and the patient Nebbiolo summarizes the entire range. Those visiting Castagnito should book a cellar tour and ask to taste the wines in sequence, from the Dolcetto to the great reds for aging: it's the most authentic way to experience four denominations from a single producer.
