BUSSO STEFANO E SON SSA

Barbera d'Asti DOCGRuchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCGTerre Alfieri DOCG

Busso Stefano e Son distributes its work across three distinct Piedmontese denominations. The cornerstone is Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, a rare and circumscribed grape variety that yields fragrant red wines recognizable within a few hectares of Monferrato. Revolving around this core are the two souls of Terre Alfieri, the white-berried Arneis and Nebbiolo, and the vastness of Barbera d'Asti. Barbera itself marks the contrast: it originates from a production basin of one hundred and sixty-five municipalities, among the most extensive in the national landscape, and requires at least four months of aging before achieving a complete structure. From a niche grape variety to a mass denomination, the winery composes a vertical geography of designated origins, where the choice is not about quantity but about traversing different registers—rare and widespread, white and red—within a single regional area. Just three names, but sufficient to cover the entire spectrum between a grape variety spanning a few hectares and a denomination counting hundreds.
