The story of Cantina Tomaso Gianolio began in the 1920s, when Bartolomeo supplied wine to the Trattoria del Cannone d'Oro in Fossano. The company formally structured itself in 1963 and has passed down knowledge of the slopes and the selection of the best grapes from generation to generation, now guided by brothers Davide and Igor. Their work unfolds across four Piedmontese DOCGs that illustrate the full spectrum of Nebbiolo and Dolcetto: from the long-aging reds of Barolo and Barbaresco to the more immediate expressions of Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba. Each label measures the relationship between grape variety and hillside, conveying the precision of a territory where a few varieties are enough to tell many nuanced stories. The winery opens its doors throughout the year: those passing through Fossano can book a tasting and personally follow the thread that connects four denominations to a single family, from great age-worthy reds to Dolcetto wines meant for youthful enjoyment.
