Cantine VULCANO

Cirò Marina · Province of Crotone · Calabria

Cirò DOCMelissa DOC

In Cirò Marina, Cantine Vulcano works with Gaglioppo, the red grape that more than any other tells the story of Calabria, moving between two contiguous denominations: Cirò and Melissa. These are two DOCs that share the matrix of a terroir marked by ancient volcanic origins, where the soil imparts a recognizable mineral precision to the wines. The winery interprets this geographical proximity as a double register of the same grape variety, without confusing their accents. The house reds are born with a minimum alcohol content of twelve percent and demand patience: they are not wines for immediate consumption, but glasses designed for those who know how to await their evolution. The Superiore Riserva versions represent the pinnacle of the project, longer aging periods that seek a structural complexity destined to unfold over the years. It is a work that prioritizes depth over ease, consistent with a territory that yields nothing quickly. Between the two Calabrian DOCs, Vulcano builds an identity founded on Gaglioppo and patience, a measure of a wine-producing south that entrusts its ambition to time.
