Capanna
Montalcino · Province of Siena · Toscana
The history of Capanna begins with Giuseppe Cencioni, who started bottling his own wine in the 1960s and was among the founding members of the Consorzio del Brunello in 1966. Today, the estate spans twenty-five hectares in Montosoli, north of Montalcino, and is led by Patrizio and Amedeo, third and fourth generations, who personally oversee both the vineyard and the cellar. The style remains faithful to tradition: the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is made from 100% Sangiovese and undergoes the forty-eight months of minimum aging set by the regulations, a period that softens the tannins without diminishing its drive. Montosoli is one of the most recognized ridges in the area, and in that context, the choice of continuity serves as a declaration of method. The doors are open to those who wish to visit the estate and taste on-site, following the thread that connects four generations to the same wine and the same slope that has made it recognizable.
