CAPITONI MARCO

Marco Capitoni cultivates six hectares of vineyards in Pienza, on land his father and uncles planted in 1974. The foundation of his work remains Sangiovese, flanked in the historic vineyard by Canaiolo and Colorino, while a parcel planted in 1999 also hosts Merlot. From these rows comes his sole denomination, Orcia DOC, a still relatively undiscovered origin in this corner of southern Tuscany, bordering the Val d'Orcia. Capitoni personally oversees every stage, from pruning to harvest to vinification, maintaining a balance between his inherited legacy and a forward-looking vision. His Orcia red wines are born from this daily attention to the vineyard, from the awareness of how much human effort matters in difficult vintages as much as in generous ones.
