Casanuova di Ama

At an altitude of 550 meters, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, Casanuova di Ama overlooks the hills of the Classico region. The Bencini family acquired the estate in 1967, planting new vineyards and restoring the buildings before bottling their first wines in 1984: a journey of almost two decades between acquisition and debut, speaking to the slow pace of these lands. Today, Chianti Classico, primarily based on Sangiovese and complemented by other red grape varieties, is the core of their red wine production, alongside Vinsanto, spumante metodo classico, and extra virgin olive oil. The farming and viticultural experience accumulated over generations converges under the oenological guidance of Yuri Bencini, who shapes the qualitative philosophy. A family-run estate, Casanuova di Ama is open for visits: a stop in Gaiole is well worth it for the altitude and the breathtaking view that opens up over the hills of the area.
