Castello di Volpaia in Radda in Chianti traces its lineage to 1172, when the Florentine Della Volpaia family shaped Renaissance innovation—Lorenzo famously built the planetary clock for Palazzo Vecchio alongside Leonardo da Vinci. Today, under the Mascheroni Stianti ownership, the estate honours that heritage through agriculture. Across 45 hectares above 400 metres on arenaria-rich soils, Sangiovese vines produce elegant, long-lived reds. Visitors discover wines marked by persistent fruited aromatics and the mineral character distinctive to Alto Chianti's cool terroir, paired with estate oil and orchard produce.
