Gabriele Verdecchia operates on the storied plains of the Fucino, where an 18th-century engineering feat drained a vast lake and left behind exceptionally fertile volcanic soil. Here, in Luco dei Marsi, he cultivates Patata del Fucino IGP, tubers prized for their firm, compact flesh and unblemished skin. The unique terroir—formerly lacustrine bed—imparts the distinctive taste and texture that distinguish this Abruzzo-protected variety from commodity potatoes elsewhere.
