AGNELLI VIASSONE S.S. AGRICOLA
Grinzane Cavour · Province of Cuneo · Piemonte
On the Langhe hills, in Grinzane Cavour, Agnelli Viassone oversees four Piedmontese denominations, distinguished by grape variety and aging time. On one side, Nebbiolo, which in Barolo and Barbaresco undergoes long aging, between 26 and 38 months, to build structure and depth; on the other, the earlier-maturing Dolcetto, which gives voice to Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba with immediate fruit and a smooth texture. Four red wines, two maturation speeds, one landscape. The winery never separates the wine from the land that generates it: tastings are intertwined with walks among the rows, along woodland paths, and even a tour accompanied by a donkey, so that those who taste can discern the concentration of the terroir in the glass. It's a direct way to tell the journey from vineyard to palate. Visitors to Grinzane Cavour can book one of these walks and conclude it with a tasting of the four wines, measuring on site the distance between a Nebbiolo destined for long aging and a Dolcetto to be drunk young.
