Agricola ROVETO di Gabriele Francesco Tarallo

Avola · Province of Siracusa · Sicilia

Limone di Siracusa IGP

On the sunny slopes above Avola, in the province of Siracusa, Agricola ROVETO di Gabriele Francesco Tarallo cultivates the citrus fruit that has made this stretch of the Sicilian coast famous: Limone di Siracusa IGP, specifically the Femminello variety. The work follows the rhythm of the tree, which is capable of flowering and fruiting multiple times throughout the year. From this, three distinct harvests emerge, each with its own character: the Primofiore in spring, the Bianchetto in summer, and the Verdello in autumn, obtained by encouraging the plant to a second production. Each window yields a different fruit in terms of juice intensity, peel thickness, and aromatic profile, so that a single denomination actually encompasses a small calendar of nuances. The Mediterranean climate and the exposure of the land do the rest, imbuing the lemon with the particular conditions of the Siracusan coastal strip. It is a monoculture viewed as a continuous cycle, where the value lies not in the variety of products but in the seasonal diversity of the same citrus fruit.
