In Randazzo, on the northern slopes of Etna, Al Cantara works with two complementary expressions of the same volcanic soil: Sicilia DOC wines and Sicilia IGP extra virgin olive oil. The red, white, and rosé wines are born from island grape varieties like Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese, maintained at a minimum of twelve degrees alcohol, while the oil translates the same lava-rich terrain into a culinary staple. These two denominations interpret the basalt in different ways. The winery views wine as a narrative: the labels become visual art, and each bottle is linked to Sicilian culture, art, and literature. It's a way of looking at the vineyard that invites on-site exploration. The cellar welcomes visitors for tastings that connect the glass, the landscape, and the stone from which it originates: it's well worth stopping among the Etnean rows and asking to taste a Nerello red alongside the extra virgin olive oil, to appreciate how far the same land can reach.
