Albino Piona

Since 1893, the Piona family has cultivated the morainic hills near Lake Garda, close to Villafranca di Verona, where Corvina and Rondinella ripen under the Venetian sun. Four generations have guided the company towards a natural approach to viticulture, aimed at reflecting the character of the territory rather than refining it away. The sole denomination, Bardolino Superiore DOCG, requires at least twelve months of aging, resulting in a balanced red, conceived for the table even more than for tasting: it pairs wonderfully with the local gastronomic heritage, from Valeggio tortellini to regional cheeses. The family-run winery welcomes visitors year-round amidst the rows that shape the Custoza landscape. Guests receive a direct welcome, the opportunity to taste the wines in their context, and to discern, by walking through the vineyards, the relationship between the morainic sediments and the profile of the reds. It's a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the Garda hinterland.
