Bolgheri DOCBolgheri Sassicaia DOC

In Castagneto Carducci, in the province of Livorno, Aldrovandi cultivates the soils of Bolgheri under the influence of Mediterranean winds, which shape Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc into wines with a distinct mineral character. The ferruginous rock of the terroir leaves a recognizable mark, clearly expressed in the company's reds. Two denominations punctuate the production. The Bolgheri DOC covers the broader scope of work, from reds to elegant whites—Vermentino and Sauvignon around 11.5% alcohol—while the Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC marks the pinnacle, with bottles aged at least twenty-four months in wood to build complexity and structure. The two labels thus narrate different scales of the same territory: the versatility of the main denomination and the concentration of the most celebrated subzone. The common thread remains the soil, which Aldrovandi allows to speak without forcing, entrusting the long aging in wood and the touch of the Bordeaux grape varieties with the task of translating Bolgheri's ferrous and saline character into the bottle.
