In Castel Rocchero, nestled among the Asti hills, three guaranteed denominations converge, each telling the story of a different Piemonte. The Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG is the rarest: a spicy red from just seven municipalities, an almost confidential grape variety. Alongside it grow the mineral Arneis and the structured Nebbiolo of Terre Alfieri DOCG, while the Barbera d'Asti DOCG—from a much wider territory of 165 municipalities—brings the register of reds meant for aging. The common thread lies beneath our feet: clay and marl soils, which impart tension and body to the Asti grapes. Minimum aging periods and vocations vary from grape to grape, but the hand that selects them is the same, careful not to betray the profile of each zone. Not open to visitors, the winery's essence can be understood in the distance between these three poles: a spicy red that is almost impossible to find, a hillside white, and a Barbera crafted for years of cellaring. Three DOCGs from a single address, proof of how dense the fabric of the hills between Asti and Monferrato truly is.
